Shopping in Austin

In keeping with its “Keep Austin Weird” campaign, the city of Austin strives to maintain its local retail shops and stores amidst the onslaught of national and global store chains. Being a big metropolis, it is inevitable for Austin to accommodate giant brands and companies but the local businesses and residents are just as active to support and keep the independent stores alive. The development of small businesses along with giant store chains in the city has given consumers an array of choices when it comes to shopping.

Austin has numerous shopping malls and retail stores to choose from. If you're on the hunt for designer labels, then there's The Arboretum at Great Hills Shopping Center. This venue features a number of boutiques, retail shops, art galleries, and restaurants. Some of the well-known brands in this Austin shopping spot are Banana Republic, Nine West, Gap, Victoria's Secret, Chico's and Bath and Body Works. A Barnes and Noble store is also located here.

Another shopping spot in Austin is the Gateway Shopping Centers, a complex that features the Gateway Market which is anchored by Whole Foods, Gateway Square which houses furniture stores, and the Gateway Courtyard which has several retail stores, a day spa, and a cinema.
